In the tradition of John Shelton Reed's 1976 classic essay in Social Forces (https://doi.org/10.1093/sf/54.4.925) and the many paper that followed with updates, this is a quick map I made using Reed's S-Score methodology with ESRI's comprehensive business naming data. It shows locations of naming businesses with "Southern," "South," or "Southeastern" relative to "American."
